QUESTION: What happened to the old mailing list?
The original mailing list used software that was no longer supported. The new mailing list software is used by many sites and is well supported.
If you were on the old list, you have been subscribed to the new list.
If you no longer want to receive messages from the list, you can unsubscribe here.
QUESTION: I receive some, but not all of the messages from the mailing list. Why?
There are a couple of things that could be happening. The most likely culprit is that you are using a Yahoo address for the list. Yahoo filters email that they consider to be spam. Other providers do this as well, but Yahoo is special. They seem to consider ALL email that doesn't come from one of the big domains as spam.
Your provider may also be filtering your email. Some universities and other businesses have filtered email from this list. If you are not using Yahoo and you suspect this to be the case, please ask your provider to not filter email from noreply#sdkrashen.com. (Replace the # with an @).
So what can you do about this?
1) Check your Spam/Bulk folder and make sure that there is no message from the list in there. If there is, mark it as NOT SPAM. This will help you receive the majority of the mail from the list.
2) Add noreply#sdkrashen.com. (Replace the # with an @). to your address book. This sometimes helps. You might even send an email to that address. The send will fail, but it sometimes allows you to receive email from that address.
3) Get a new mailing address. Google has free email (gmail.com) and has none of these problems.
QUESTION: What is the mailing list?
ANSWER: From time to time Dr. Krashen sends email to the people on this list.
These messages are generally updates to the web-site, short articles, and
letters to newspapers and magazines.
QUESTION: Will I receive SPAM if I'm on the mailing list?
ANSWER: No. Membership in the list is private. Only Dr. Krashen and the manager
of the list have access to it and only they can send mail to the list. No address
on the list will be transfered to any other person or company.
QUESTION: How do I SUBSCRIBE to the list?
ANSWER: Click here and follow the prompts.
You will receive a confirmation email. Click on the link in that email and your subscription will be complete.
QUESTION: How do I UNSUBSCRIBE to the list?
ANSWER: Click here and follow the prompts.
QUESTION: I've tried to subscribe/unsubscribe to the list, but I can't get it to work! Help!
ANSWER: If all else fails: Click here to contact the list manager. Be sure to send the EXACT address you want to add/remove from the list.
ANSWER: If you left click on that link, most browsers
(Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc...) will try to download and
display the document in the browser. Some documents are fairly large and will take several minutes to fully download. Unfortunately nothing will be displayed in some browsers until the download is finished.
If you have tried the link and after waiting 5 to 10 minutes nothing
happens, there are a couple of alternatives:
1) You may not have the current version of the Adobe Acrobat reader. Click
on the following link to get it and try again.
Download Adobe Acrobat® Reader. (Free)
2) If you right click on the link, in most browsers a menu will come
up and it will have an option something like:
"Save Link Target As", "Save Link As" or "Save Target As".
If you select that option, a file dialog will come up and you will
be asked where you want to save the file. Chose an appropriate
directory on your hard drive and click "OK".
QUESTION: Will other books or articles by Stephen Krashen be posted to this site?
